World AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1st, is a time to reflect on the 32 million lives lost to AIDS-related illnesses worldwide, honor those impacted by the epidemic, and reaffirm our commitment to ending HIV.

Personal stories are powerful tools for breaking down stigma and fostering understanding. Today, we are honored to share the journeys of four patients of Alchemy’s partner clinics as they navigate the realities of HIV care and prevention—offering insights into their challenges, resilience, and the importance of accessible, compassionate care.

Javi | Oklahoma City, OK

Born in Mexico and raised in the U.S. since the age of six, Javi shares his journey navigating cultural stigma, a surprise HIV diagnosis during a routine doctor visit, and the fears that followed.

Cody | Oklahoma City, OK

Cody shares his experience being diagnosed with HIV how the barriers to care he faced ultimately led him to open an STD clinic to better serve People Living with HIV.

Rebecca | Haines City, FL

As a person at a higher risk of contracting HIV, Rebecca stays negative through regular HIV testing and daily PrEP medication. Before her clinic, Community Care Resources of Florida, opened an in-house pharmacy, she often struggled to fill her prescription at retail pharmacies who didn’t always have them in stock.

Juan | Oklahoma City, OK

Juan, a young advocate for HIV prevention, shares his experience using PrEP to stay protected while navigating the challenges of accessing medication before his clinic opened an in-house pharmacy.

When you get diagnosed with HIV, it's not just you you're worried about. You're worried about the people you slept with. You're worried about your friends, what they're going to think if they find out. You're worried about your mom. You know, your dad, your, everybody. Because you don't want anybody to stop loving you because you have HIV.
